History of Taylor Harvesting

Taylor Harvesting Ltd. began in 1980 as the realization of a lifelong dream for Ray Taylor, who grew up on a farm near Foremost, Alberta, along the Canadian/USA border. From a young age, Ray envisioned a life as a Custom Harvester. Supported by his wife, Faye, and their two children, Tara and Darren, Ray took the leap in 1981, heading south to Vernon, Texas, with his Massey Ferguson combines. This marked the start of a family-owned and operated custom harvesting business originally known as “Ray’s 760 Combines.”

In its early years, the business relied on Massey Ferguson equipment, a staple until 1986 when Ray transitioned to Case IH combines. By 2001, after a brief return to John Deere, Ray committed fully to the brand, building a reputation for reliable equipment and excellent service.

What began as a modest operation with three combines steadily grew through Ray’s vision, perseverance, and dedication. By the time he stepped back from day-to-day operations, the company had expanded into a twelve-combine fleet, harvesting thousands of acres across North America.

In 1985, the business officially became Taylor Harvesting Ltd., reflecting its growth and evolution. As Ray’s children grew, Darren, his son, took an increasingly active role in the business. Eventually, Darren and his wife, Kim, took over operations, guiding the company into a new era.

In recent years, Darren has shifted the focus of the business from cross-border custom harvesting to specializing in custom farming in southern Alberta. Through DRT Farms Ltd., the family continues to provide expert farming services while managing 7,000 acres of grain and oilseed production.

Today, Taylor Harvesting Ltd. stands as a testament to the Taylor family’s hard work and adaptability, rooted in a legacy of agricultural excellence and commitment to their community.
